SPOKE TO ME HAVE ANY TALE TELLERS FROM SAINT AUGUSTINE. THIS IS WHERE OUR HISTORY CONTINUES TO GO FORWARD. COME O UP HERE. WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY ANYTHING? WILL WE WAIT FOR SHELBY? THANK YOU FOR COMING THIS MORNING AND RECOGNIZING US FOR 30 YEARS WE HAVE TOLD STORIES IN SAINT AUGUSTINE AREA AND AROUND FLORIDA AND EVEN THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES. I IS OUR DUTY AND OUR MISSION TO SPREAD OUR CULTURE AND OUR HISTORY THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.

AN ENTERTAINMENT MEDIUM. STORYTELLING IS A VALUABLE METHOD OF SHARING THE LEGENDS FOR CHLOR AND HISTORY OF HISTORIC SAINT AUGUSTINE AND ST JOHN'S COUNTY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. WHEREAS STORYTELLING EMBRACES THE HERITAGE AND ORAL TRADITION OF OUR DIVERSE CULTURES. ENABLING ALL CITIZENS TO CELEBRATE THE STRENGTH OF COMMUNITY. AND THE RICHNESS OF DIVERSITY. STORYTELLING ENCOURAGES THE MASTERY OF LANGUAGE ARTS, LITERACY AND KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY AND FOR CHLOR AS STUDENTS OF ALL AGES LEARN TELL AND LISTEN TO STORIES AND SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS. >>> GOOD MORNING EVERYONE. WE WOULD LIKE TO RECOGNIZE NATIONA POETRY MONTH. AT THIS TIME I WOULD LIKE TO CALL UP CHRIS BRODER WHO IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE ANCIENT CITY POETS CHAPTER.

CHRIS, COME FORWARD AND SAY A FEW WORDS AND SHAYNA WILL GO AHEAD AND READ THE PROCLAMATION INTO RECORD.

>> HELLO EVERYONE. I'M WITH THE AGENT CITY POETS. THAT IS JUST NAME FOR A POETRY READINGS HERE AND ST. JOHNS COUNTY. WE WERE NAMED IN APRIL OF 2009. BY THE ST. JOHN'S COUNTY CULTURAL COUNCIL. THEY WANTED TO RECOGNIZE POETRY BECAUSE NATIONAL POETRY MONTH WAS GOING ON. THEY WANTED TO DO IT ON A LOCAL LEVEL. I WAS ASKED TO DO OPEN MIC BACK THEN. BY AUGUST WE DECIDED WE SHOULD DO IT ON A MONTHLY BASIS. WE HAVE BEEN HOLDING OPEN MICROPHONE POETRY READINGS ON THE LAST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH SINCE THEN. WE WER ABLE TO HAVE A POETRY FESTIVAL OVER THE WEEKEND LAST WEEK. I LOOKED AT THE NAMES OF PEOPLE WHO SIGNED IN AND THEY HAVE ABOUT 200 NAMES. PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES. PEOPLE CAME TO ST. JOHNS COUNTY LAST WEEK TO VACATION AND GET HOTEL ROOM AND THEN JUMP ON THE MICROPHONE AND SHARE THEIR PUBLISHED POEMS. WE EVEN HAD A CONTEST THAT THE ST. JOHN'S CULTURAL COUNCIL PUT TOGETHER .

WHEN YOU SEE A LITTLE KID GET RECOGNIZED FOR A HAIKU THAT THE WROTE IT IS EXCITING. THE FACES AND THE SMILES TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE REACHED A CERTAI LEVEL. I KNOW FIRMLY THAT IT WILL CARRY THROUGH AS THEY BECOME POETS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT. AGAIN, I AM GRATEFUL FO THIS OPPORTUNITY THAT ST. JOHNS COUNTY IS RECOGNIZING NATIONAL POETRY MONTH ON A LOCAL LEVEL.

WHERE A THIS LITERARY TRADITION CONTINUES TODAY TO THE WORK OF LOCAL AUTHOR SUPPORTED IN THEIR EFFORTS BY ORGANIZATIONS SUCH A ANCIENT CITY POETS AND LOCAL ARTS AGENCY. THE ST. . WATER CONSERVATION MONTH. >> GOOD MORNING. I SAW YOU HERE EARLIER, DOUG CONKEY WITH THE ST. JOHN'S RIVER AND WATER MANAGEMENT DISTRICT. ANYONE ELSE FROM THE DISTRICT HERE? AR YOU HERE COLIN? COME ON UP. I WANT TO SAY A QUICK NOTE BEFORE WE READ THE PROCLAMATION. ABOU 22 OR 23 YEARS AGO SOMEBODY ASKED ME WHEN ARE WE GOING TO RUN OUT OF WATER IN FLORIDA? I LOOKED AT HIM AND I SAID JUNE 10TH 2012. THEY LOOKED AT ME LIKE I HAD GONE CRAZY. THAT WAS A JOKE. I SAID WE ARE NEVER GOING TO RUN OUT OF WATER IN FLORIDA. NEVER, WE WILL RUN OUT OF CHEAP WATER. WATER CONSERVATION IS THE KEY PLAYER IN KEEPING THAT PRICE AS LOW A POSSIBLE AND NOT LETTING IT GO THROUGH THE ROOF LIKE GAS PRICE ARE THIS WEEK. ONE OF THE LEADING COUNTIES IN NORTH FLORIDA FOR WATER CONSERVATION AND REUSE OF RECLAIMED WATER IS IN FACT ST. JOHNS COUNTY. I'M PROUD TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH ST. JOHNS COUNTY. YOU ARE CAPTURIN AND RETREATING AND USING WASTEWATER. 60% OF OUR WATER IS REUSED WATER. RECLAIMED WATER. AND FIVE YEARS THAT SHOULD BE A 100%. NO MORE DISCHARGES INTO THE SURFACE WATERS OF OUR COUNTY. I AM PROUD OF WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED. DOUG DO YOU

WE GO WAY BACK I WANT TO RECOGNIZE THAT COMMISSIONER DEAN'S EXPERTISE AND EXPERIENCE IN THE AREA OF WATER IS AN ASSET TO ST. JOHNS COUNTY. YOU ARE BLESSED TO HAV THIS OPERATION. HE LED THE DISTRICT NOT ONLY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA BUT IN THE COUNTRY.

WE ARE POSITIONED WELL TO TACKL THIS. WE RECOGNIZE THIS IS THE 25TH YEAR RECOGNIZING APRIL AS WATER CONSERVATION MONTH. WHEN I SAY LET'S BE GREEDY EVERY MONTH IS WATER CONSERVATION MONTH HERE IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. EVERYONE HAS EXPERIENCED ONE OF THOSE WEEKS AT ONE POINT IN TIME. WE WILL WASTE UP TO 10,000 GALLONS IN A MONTH OR ANNUALLY. SOMETIMES 10% OF THE HOMES WILL HAVE LEAK THAT WILL AVERAGE 90 GALLONS PE DAY IN THE COURSE OF A MONTH. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT LEAKS ARE EASILY CORRECTABLE. WHEN YOU CORRECT THEM THEY SAVE YOU ABOU

SAINT JOHNS COUNTY HAS ENCOURAGED AND SUPPORTED WATER CONSERVATION THROUGH VRIOUS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL EVENTS. WHERE AS EVERY BUSINESS INDUSTRY IN SCHOOL AND CITIZEN CAN HELP BY SAVING WATE AND THUS PROMOTE A HEALTHY ECONOMY AND COMMUNITY. THIS YEAR WITH THEIR NUMBER ONE RANKING COMING INTO THE SEASON THEY WENT UNDEFEATED THAT'S INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT. WHEN YOU ARE EVERYBODY'S BIGGES GAME ON THEIR SCHEDULE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON. THEY CIRCLE YOU ON THE SCHEDULE AND YOU GO OUT THERE AND KICK SOCCE BALLS THE WAY THAT THEY HAVE. IT'S MORE IMPRESSIVE WITH THE ADDED PRESSURE THAT THEY HAVE. TO BE A TRUE STUDENT ATHLETE. KNOW I AM ALWAYS AMAZED BY THEM JUST TO THINK ABOUT THE HARD WORK AND THE DEDICATION AND THE HOURS AND THE SACRIFICE THAT IT TAKES AT THE LEVEL THAT THESE GIRLS ARE AT. I WANT TO INTRODUCE TWO OF MY SENIOR CAPTAINS. GRACE IV, WHO WILL BE GOING TO TEXAS A&M TO PLAY SOCCER AND CONTINUE HER EDUCATION. DURING THAT NINE MONTHS , SHE HAD HER DAUGHTER. SHE LIVED WITH A FRIEND OF MINE . SHE LIVED, TOOK CARE OF THE HOUSE, LIVED WITH ME . THIS IS WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. THE REASON SHE LEFT? SHE COULD NOT FIND HOUSING FOR HERSELF OR THE CHILDREN. SHE WORKED DURING THAT PERIOD OF TIME. SHE WORKED AT ANY JOB SHE COULD GET DURING THAT PERIOD OF TIME BECAUSE SHE KNEW SHE WOULD NEED MONEY, EVEN WITH AFFORDABLE HOUSING . SHE WOULD NEED MONEY FOR RENT, SHE WOULD NEED MONEY FOR WHATEVER.
